The last week has been all about training, covering on yard duties and making sure I kept up to date with social media.
Hubert K has been launched back into training after a few weeks of being everywhere it was nice to have a week of getting back in routine with him. He struggles keeping power while turning circles and corners so he is being trained in our indoor school for the next few weeks, as its 30 x 15 metres he is learning that he can keep the impulsion and still turn be it serpintines, circles of various sizes or just a corner. Already after a few days he is getting the hang of it. Our sole aim for the next 6 weeks is to gain enough points to qualify for the Novice summer regionals, and he has quite a tough schedule of competition for the next 3 weeks at least, so its all about basics and fitness.
After schooling he has been enjoying the sunshine in the village for a walk down after work, I normally hate road work but he seems to enjoy it and the more he sees of the world the better he is and for the first time on Friday he really did chill out on his walk and I could walk him on a long rein through the village.
Our wonderful live in groom Ellinoré went down to London for a few days with her cousin doing the tourist thing and just recharging her batteries. So Thursday, Friday I was on yard duties with Becky. This limits how much riding & training I can do but it was so refreshing to be back on the yard instead of running around after Hattie half the time. Thursday and Friday evening I was also teaching, Imara is a Friesen that has been with us a while on training livery now and twice a week I work with her owners daughter with her. Its so nice to work with them and see the progress they are making together now.
My next camp on the 13th & 14th of June is nearly fully booked and I had a meeting yesterday with Rosie Evans from Yoga with Rosie based in Wymondham to discuss the yoga class at the end of the first day of camp – it was fab to get some ideas down on paper and Rosie is as excited as the rest of us about it all! Ben has started planning the menu already and because we are competing so much leading up to it I know that all of a sudden it will be here so we really need to get the finer details sorted asap. If anyone would like to join us in the evening on the Saturday for dinner, drinks and lots of dressage just let me know, £5 a spot.
Today & yesterday is rather wet, but nice and warm. Hubert K was ridden at 7.30 this morning, then followed by Gio’s lunge before I went on Hattie looking after duties. Tomorrow Hattie is in day care all day at her Forest School (its fab – they get to build fires, play freely in the forest & the muckier they come home the better!)
Hopefully later this week I will be writing a new blog with a new sponsorship deal announcement – so keep an eye out for it!
Enjoy your evening (its lovely and sunny here is Norfolk tonight!)
Anna-Lisa x
